The village of Soulby, with its three acre green, is near the River Eden and Smardale Beck. The commons were enclosed in 1810. A three arched bridge was built in 1819. Cattle and sheep fairs were once held in the village. The chapel, St Luke's, is a single chamber chapel built by Sir Philip Musgrave in 1662. The round-headed south doorway has late medieval moulding.

The market towns of Kirkby Stephen, Appleby-in-Westmorland and Penrith are all easily accessible, please click on the links to find out about any activities that may be taking place whilst you are staying at Crossbar View Farm.

For those with musical aspirations Jane plays and teaches a number of musical instruments, why not contact us to see whether Jane can help you with a problem or help to inspire you again during your stay.
This must be booked in advance to fit in with our busy lives.

There are numerous other activities available in the area, cycling, fishing, walking, eating out, the list just goes on.
